Ray Dunn is a certified School Safety Instructor as of August 2017. The decision to become an instructor came from recommendation of Ray’s good friend David Thweatt, Superintendent of Harrold Independent School District. Harrold ISD is the first school in Texas to allow teachers to carry a firearm in their school.
In the wake of the Sandy Hook Tragedy, Dunn set on a 2-year path to obtain his School Safety Instructor Certification to help schools comply with Senate Bill 1857. The Bill relates to qualified handgun instructors to conduct school safety training. The Act took effect September 1, 2013.
To become a Certified Instructor, one must go through vigorous amounts of training, complete endurance drills and pass numerous amounts of tests as required by the Texas Department of Public Safety
